I don't like using this column for non-music related topics, but...
As of 10:30AM on Sunday May 29th*, there have been 219 mass shooting in America this year (https://www.gunviolencearchive.org).
May 29th is the 149th day of this year.
That means there are 70 more mass shootings than there have been days this year, or an average of almost 1.47 mass shootings per day.
While 90% of Americans are in favor of commons sense gun laws, including the majority of gun owners, the GOP and NRA are still blocking anything meaningful from being done.
Which begs the question of who has to die before they care.
17,672 Americans have died of gun violence this year (again, as of 10:30am on 5/29/22 - https://www.gunviolencearchive.org).
If that number doesn't make you angry at GOP's inaction, I don't know what will.
With primary election season upon us, and an election in November, make sure you vote, and make sure you vote for people who are going to do something
* - how sad is it I have to specific the time & day because by the time you read this the number will likely have risen **
**- it is now 4:40PM on Sunday May 29th, as I prepare to send/post this and the number of mass shootings is now 222. 3 more mass shootings in the span of a little over 6 hours (or approximately 1 every 2 hours... WTF!), & total number of gun violence deaths have risen to 17,694. We can't accept that this is normal, because it shouldn't be.
