Pissed Off!

A few weeks ago while compiling my top 60 albums of 2009, I visited The Future Kings Of Nowhere’s website (http://www.thefuturekings.com). As some of you know, over the last few years this North Carolina based band, has come here to play several shows in NJ, including a BlowUpRadio.com show at Buddie’s Tavern. The last two years they have also gone out of their way to come through NJ during the annual Banding Together webathon I’ve done for the Spondylitis Association Of America. This past year, lead singer Shayne was getting over the swine flu, and still came to play! He is an all around good guy, and an amazing musician.

When I went to http://www.thefuturekings.com I saw this post:

Last week I went into the hospital thinking I had pneumonia and found out that I actually have Stage IV Lymphoma – cancer. Chances are good that I won’t be playing music for a while, as I go through the chemotherapy treatment and the sickness that will go along with it. Hopefully by this time next year I will have beat the cancer into remission. And even more hopefully, I will be able to finish the album during these down months.

If you want to stay abreast of my progress as I go through this, you can go to
http://thismachinekillscancer.tumblr.com

I won’t be posting here again until I have news about the album or upcoming shows.

Thank you all for the wonderful support and love you’ve shown this band. I will get through this and play for you again soon.

- Shayne

That post was from November 30th. He has since started chemo, and is staying as upbeat as he can (see his blog http://thismachinekillscancer.tumblr.com )

The downside is that Shayne’s medical expenses are not going to be cheap.

It’s time for us to “band together” again as a music scene and help Shayne.

I will be working with some people to put together one or more benefit concerts, and hopefully a benefit album, with 100% of the money raised going to Shayne’s medical expenses.

You can help right now by going to http://www.thefuturekings.com. For free you can download his “solo demos” (my #5 album of 2009). If you like what you hear, there is a Paypal for you to donate. The same Paypal link, as well as a link to their Cancer Supply list on Amazon.com, can be found on http://thismachinekillscancer.tumblr.com.

Even if you can’t donate money (we all know the economy sucks), download the “solo demos”, and if you like them, share the music with others and let them know of Shayne’s plight.

If we spread the word, we can help make a difference…

Yeah, I know it sounds schmaltzy, but it’s true.

That's all for this week folks.

Peace,
Lazlo
