Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

Sorry there was no newsletter last week. I have been busy with a lot of things that hopefully will ensure the future of BlowUpRadio.com and Lazlo's Den, and make both even better.

~~~~~~~~~~
I'm going to leave up the poll question one more week about the future of BlowUpRadio.com. As of this writing, 55% want to see a BlowUpRadio.com podcast, and 45% want to see the webcast remain on Live365. If the results remain that close I may just have to see about doing both...at least as long as I am able to do a regular webcast (the royalty decision is still in a wait and see area right now...check out www.savenetradio.org).
Bands, if you haven't already, please take a moment to downlaod and sign the royalty waiver, that I will need to use to play your music on the podcast. Thanks!
~~~~~~~~~~

But here is the big announcement for this week.

On Friday September 28th and Saturday September 29th, BlowUpRadio.com will do the biggest benefit show it has ever undertaken. The benefit will take place at Buddie's Tavern, 277 Johnsons Ln, Parlin (Sayreville), NJ, and will feature close to 30 acts over the course of two days. The charity the show will benefit is the Spondylitis Association Of America (http://www.spondylitis.org).

From their website:

"SAA is a non-profit organization and we were the first and remain the largest resource for people affected by spondylitis. Through our efforts, we help advance education, research and treatment for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and related diseases. Literally thousands of people visit this site seeking information, support and most of all, hope. For over 20 years SAA has dedicated all of its resources to help improve the lives of people coping with spondylitis."

This is a very personal benefit for me, as my wife, Naomi, suffers from Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), a form of arthritis that primarily affects the spine, although other joints can become involved. It causes inflammation of the spinal joints (vertebrae) that can lead to severe, chronic pain and discomfort. In the most advanced cases (but not in all cases), this inflammation can lead to new bone formation on the spine, causing the spine to fuse in a fixed, immobile position, sometimes creating a forward-stooped posture.

So mark your calendars now, and please try to make it out for this special 2 day concert.

Tuesday night on Lazlo's Den, I'll be interviewing Alan Tepper, the organizer of the Black River Music & Art Fest.

Peace,
Lazlo

LOCAL MUSIC NEWS
TWISTED COVERS TURNS SPOTLIGHT ON BOB DYLAN

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Twisted Covers series returns to The Twisted Tree Cafe in Asbury Park on Sunday, August 19th at 7pm with a spotlight on the career of Bob Dylan. Over 15 artists are scheduled to perform two songs by Bob Dylan and one of their own originals. Rick Barry will be this month's featured artist and will be performing around six songs.

The Twisted Covers series made its debut in July with a look at the music of The Rolling Stones. The series is loosely based on the popular Losers Lounge shows which have taken place in Hoboken and New York City. Each show spotlights the work of a different artist as voted on by the artists and music fans. Bob Dylan won the first round of voting over artists as varied as Pat Benatar to Tom Waits; The Beastie Boys to Black Sabbath.

Artists scheduled to perform on August 19th include Rick Barry, Anthony Fiumano, Cook, Astronaut Jones, Hesh, Joe Harvard, Tony Tedesco, Meagan Brothers, Jo Wymer, Bill McGowan, Michael Scotto, Arnie Baird, George Wirth, Anton Daub, Michael Brett, Bob Denson, and Keith McCarthy.

In September, Twisted Covers will spotlight the work of Bruce Springsteen to celebrate his birthday that month. Artists interested in performing should contact Gary Wien at gary@upstagemagazine.com

Twisted Covers is presented by UpstageRadio.com and The Twisted Tree Cafe. The cafe is located at 609 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park. The show will run from 7pm until all artists have performed.

BOBBY STRANGE SIGNS WITH WESTWOOD MUSIC GROUP

He has been called the Jersey Shore's "best kept secret," "the world's greatest unknown songwriter" and "the greatest songwriter the world has never known." And these are just a few of his monikers. Now, his anonymity may be short-lived.

Jersey Shore songwriting legend Bobby Strange has signed an exclusive, multi-year contract (rumors are it could amount to millions) with Westwood Music Group for Worldwide Film and Television Music representation.

Commenting to a KABD radio entertainment reporter, the always indignant Strange quipped, "the millions mean nothing to me -- the thing I find most rewarding is being able to tell anyone along the way who wouldn't give me a gig to kiss my *@%!"
