But this time it's potentially good news...but I need your help.

HELP SAVE INTERNET RADIO

In a show of bipartisan support for online radio, U.S. Reps. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) and Donald Manzullo (R-Ill.) have filed legislation they hope will "prevent the demise of Internet radio."

The Internet Radio Equality Act would reverse a recent decision by the federal Copyright Royalty Board that would at least triple the amount of royalties Internet radio broadcasters must pay to copyright holders to play a song, according to a statement from Manzullo's office. CALL YOUR CONGRESSPERSON NOW TO ASK THEM TO CO-SPONSOR H.R. 2060, THE INTERNET RADIO EQUALITY ACT

Thank you for your support of internet radio!

Album of the Month
Mike June & The Dirty Doves - "lovesick"

LOVESICK, the second full-length record from Mike June & The Dirty Doves, will be released on Tuesday March 27th, 2007 by June's own Junedog Records label. 3 years in the making, LOVESICK is the proper follow-up to 2002's critically acclaimed CROOKED. It features 11 songs that explore a relationship that falls apart, rekindles and ultimately crashes and burns. With June's signature vocals leading the way, the Dirty Doves (Jay Forsythe, Clint Morris, Joe Vernazza, Ed Fritz and Rich DeCicco) move from Motown inspired indie rock (Fighting The War) to Dylan-esque country ( The Ballad of the Ballad {of John and Yoko}) to down and dirty rock that recalls The Faces (Honkey Tonk Angels #2) with thier signature grace and grit. Produced by June and guitarist Jay Forsythe, LOVESICK was recorded and mixed using old-fashioned analog equipment and instruments to give it a warm, vintage feel. So put the headphones on and take a once in a lifetime emotional and musical journey with Mike June & The Dirty Doves.

LOCAL MUSIC NEWS
PERFUMA WIN THE BREAK CONTEST AND A SLOT ON BAMBOOZLE

As predicted by The Aquarian Weekly, Perfuma is among the elite few unsigned bands chosen to play this year’s Bamboozle festival, thanks to The Break Contest. Though around 250 acts took part in the Rockland Music Center sponsored completion, only a few survived numerous rounds of shows and scored serious points with the judges.

The panel of critics, which included members of Max Cruise Entertainment, based their scores on talent (30 %), performance (30 %), audience response (20 %) and votes by ballot (20%).

Perfuma will be bringing its raw rock to Bamboozle on Sunday, May 6 at 7:45 pm on the Pass the Mic stage. Don’t miss it!

Also check out “It’s Only Art,” off Perfuma’s Black Lung Sessions EP, on the upcoming first ever Break Compilation CD.

This is only just the beginning of excitement for the Little Falls, New Jersey natives. The new line-up brings ex-Pennyroyal Tucker on bass (you’ve seen him in just about every Hartke/Sam Ash ad around) and Rye Coalition’s Dave Leto (Dave Grohl called him the best drummer in the world) behind the kit. Adam Bird (vocals/guitar) and Eric Schnare (guitar) have already garnered a strong buzz by performing dirty rock tunes packed with power pop hooks, that led Absolute Punk.net to say “This is without a doubt a band to keep on the radar ‘cause I call it now…GOING PLACES.”

Perfuma are currently in the studio working on a new album.
Concert Picks of the Week

Lazlo (BlowUpRadio.com)

It's my party & I'll promote it if I want to. That's right, I'm celebrating my birthday on Saturday, with a FREE show at Buddie's Tavern featuring some amazing acoustic performers. Confirmed to be playing are: Agency, John Raido, Harvey Brice (from the Harvey Moon Project), Kate Hart, Joe Canzano, and Jon Dacks, and there will likely be some special guests too. Some come on down to Buddie's Tavern (277 Johnsons Ln, Parlin, NJ) this Sat. and help me celebrate!

And of course don't forget that Wednesday is Folk You! @ The Goldhawk with Mazeffect, Chris Avello, and the Sweet Clementines.

Concert Picks of the Week

Gary Wien (Upstage)

We've got three picks for this week, the first takes place on Thursday, May 3rd at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank where Bobby Bandiera once again leads the Jersey Shore Rock-N-Soul Revue (and all- star 16 piece band) through an interesting tribute. This time around it's the Motown sound including artists like The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and many more. Then on Friday, you have a tough decision to make between an excellent show in Hoboken (Val Emmich, April Smith & The Great Picture Show, Arlan Feiles & His Lone Orchestra) and the reopening of the Stanhope House with the Matt Angus Thing and special guests.
