Hi Everyone, So, last week marked the Folk You! x 2, with both a Goldhawk show and a SICA show. I want to thank everyone who made it out to the shows, and a special thanks to the great performers at both shows. The Goldhawk featured incredible sets from double-breasted, Tired Starling, and The Cucumbers, and the SICA show featured more incredible sets, this time from Aeria records artists, Agency, Amsterdam, and Jon Francis (who replaced a performance by label head Colie Brice at the last minute). It is now with some remorse that I must let you know that the SICA Folk You! shows will soon be coming to an end. There are several reasons for this, none of which have to do with SICA itself, which is a venue I enjoy, and will continue to be a patron of. However, a combination of the following factors is causing me to bring the Folk You! series at SICA to a end after next month's show: 1. The inconsistant attendance. I hate to say it, but some months SICA would be packed with people there to see the performers, and other months they'd be playing to me, my wife, the other performers, and SICA's staff, and that's just very diheartening. 2. My busy life. I am now running BlowUpRadio.com and Lazlo's Den, both of which has been receiving and increase in submissions and e-mail. Since I listen to everything I get and do my best to respond to all e-mails, that has been keeping me extra busy lately. I also have a day job, family and friends, some of which I haven't been devoting as much time to as maybe I should be. 3. The stress of booking the show, dealing with the acts, trying to get people out to the show, etc. I sound like I'm complaining, but I don't mean to. By and large the acts I have worked with have been so easy to deal witht hat I hope to be able to work with them again, but the combination of everything has just become too much lately, and I decided that the SICA Folk You! shows would be the first (and hopefully only thing) to go. I make it sound like it's the beginning of the end, but it's not. BlowUpRadio.com and Lazlo's Den are far too much fun for me to give up, and the Goldhawk Folk You! isn't going anywhere (unless Goldhawk decides not to let us continue on there) . I'm just doing my best to reconcile my limited amount of time to the best amount of use it can be. This is the downside to BlowUpRadio.com being predominantly a 1 man operation. Maybe one day I will get interns, but for now, this is how it has to be. BUT, there will be one more BIG BlowUpRadio.com Folk You! show at SICA, and what a show to go out on! It will be on Saturday, May 13th, my birthday, and feature acoustic sets by Mazeffect, Jim Testa & John Raido, Jeff Devito (Particle Zoo), Chris Pierson, Michelle Vecchione, and Scruff (Kohuff). So mark your calendars now, and come out to SICA on May 13th for the very last Folk You! there, and a b-day celebration for me! Peace, Lazlo |
