Message From Lazlo

Hi Everyone,

I remember when I was young and a snow storm was one of the greatest things in the world to me. It meant no school, it meant being able to go outside and have snowball fights, build snow forts, and after one really bad storm, build snow tunnels. And at the end of the day there was always hot cocoa waiting for me inside...

These days I hate snow!

As you all know, the snow storm this past weekend caused the cancellation of our SICA Folk You! show. I am happy to report however that you won't have to go until next month to get your Folk You! fix, as we have rescheduled the show for this Saturday, Feburary 18th. Due to some scheduling conflicts the line-up will not be exactly the same, but the other artists that could not do the make up date will be brought back for another show soon.

Prosper-ous new open-mic night comes to the Java Joint...

Friday, January 27, will mark the first Open Mic at the new Java Joint Café in Old Bridge. Sign ups can be done by email (javajointopenmic@gmail.com), through MySpace (myspace.com/javajointopenmic), or at the café. It is currently held on Friday evenings from 7:30 – 10:30pm. From 7:30 on you must be at least 17 years of age, unless accompanied by a guardian.

The hip and trendy surroundings, a fantastic menu, and an area bursting with young artistic talents should make the new open mic quite an experience. Poetry, spoken word, and acoustic performance are all welcome. Along with plans for art/ photography displays and featured musicians to come for a “Storytellers-type” performance, it won’t just be the coffee getting people going on Friday nights...(more)
