Message From Lazlo

Hey Everyone,

The spirit of Banding Together was more then exceeded last Wednesday, and I thank you all for listening, and more importantly, for donating to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. While I don't know exactly how much money was donated, BlowUpRadio.com, UpstageRadio.com, and 90.5 the Night, all reported higher than usual listenership. My deepest thanks go out to everyone who helped put this together. I may have been the catalyst with the idea, but it was everyone truly "banding together", all 33 artists, all 3 stations, and of course, all of you listeners, that made this a success.

For those of you who missed the broadcast, or if you just want to hear it again, you can now download the entire show from our site. I'll keep it up for a few weeks. When you download the show, please donate to one of the organizations linked on the left side of the page.

Oh, and I'd just like to note that it has come to my attention that Starland Ballroom has decided to do some benefit concerts under the name "Band Together", BlowUpRadio.com has NO ASSOCIATION with these concerts. Several people have contacted me regarding the Starland Ballroom's benefit concerts and asking what our involvement was. Again, we are not involved. While I commend Starland Ballroom for doing some benefit shows, I am very disappointed in them for using the similarly titled, "Band Together" for their benefits. BlowUpRadio.com has used, "Banding Together" for several benefit shows over the years, and hope that people will not confuse it with this other event.

Getting back to the spirit of giving, it's time for another

BlowUpRadio.com Contest!

I have 2 free tickets for this Saturday's The Gefkens reunion show at Maxwell's". The tickets are courtesy of Jim Testa (check out his 'zine, Jersey Beat), so I will let Jim Testa talk about the show

"The Gefkens' reunion show at Maxwell's is a must-see. These power-popping brothers were a Mile Square City mainstay for years, and continue to pop up (brother Fran runs The Goldhawk, while several of the Gefkens perform in Skanatra). Opening are Chicago's blue-eyed soul kids The Redwalls, whose Capitol Records debut was one of the most charming retro albums of the year."

Want to go? Of course you do. Send an e-mail right now to Lazlo@BlowUpRadio.com. First one in, wins.

~~~~~~~~~~
And speaking of Jim Testa, big thanks go out to him for running our co-sponsored Folk You! show last Thursday at The Goldhawk while I was home suffering from bad allergies. Jim said...well heck, you can read what he said on his blog. I just want to thank Jim, and the three performers, Neil and Andy from Fairmont, Brain Carley, formerly of The Moirai, and Scott Wiener from Bikini Carwash Company. The place was packed, and the performers decided all the money they made that night would be donated to Red Cross. More people working in the spirit of "Banding Together".
Peace,
Lazlo
