Hey Everyone, First off, if you e-mailed me at Lazlo@BlowUpRadio.com in the last week or so and I did not reply back to you, there is a good chance your e-mail never reached my inbox. There seems to have been a problem with my e-mail server and not all e-mails were getting through. The problem may still exist, as tech support has not given me a straight answer. So if you send an e-mail and don't hear back from me within 3 days, please re-send the e-mail. Secondly, I've been getting more e-mails from bands of late about downloading their new albums and songs...sadly, I must ask that from now on bands need to send me CDs. There are only so many hours in a day, and I want to spend the limited amount of time that I have on-line, updating the website and answering e-mails. Trying to download MP3s and then burning them to a CD (as I usually listen to music away from the computer so I can pay better attention to the album then while I'm working on answering an e-mail or updating the site), is just too time consuming. I promise, as has always been my policy, to listen to every CD that is sent to me, and give them all equal consideration for airplay on BlowUpRadio.com. Last Thursday I was proud to be the stage manager, and BlowUpRadio.com a sponsor, of a show to Save CBGB. Thanks to support from people like yourself, we raised over $1,600.00 dollars to help the cause. No one knows for sure what the future is for CBGB, but all of us involved were glad to help. CBGB may not be the same as it once was in the "early days", but we can't afford to lose another venue that supports original music! I would also like to thank everyone who came down to SICA last Saturday for BlowUpRadio.com presents FolK You! And big thanks gos out to Andy Goulburn, Joe Whyte, Jim Testa, and Frankie McGrath. Tales From Topographic Oceans.... ...Or More Literally One Skewered Attempt At Telling The History Of Mazeffect, Complete With Inacuracies, Half-Truths, And Out-And-Out Lies. By Jay Slappy, now Jay Mazeffect. Either way still an asshole. January 2001. I (being Jay, of course) had decided that I wanted to record some solo stuff, outside of my then current band Slappy. For those of you that don't know, Slappy was a blight upon the NJ pop-punk scene from late 1995 to about late 2000. We didn't really fit in and do what was popular in the scene. We made alot of enemies, too apparently. I think we were too sarcastic for our own good, too wildly unpredictable in the live format...and well, just a bunch of difficult motherfuckers that sometimes made good music, and other times were an embarrassment to ourselves and those around us. Ahh yes, the good old days. Looking back on it all though, I had fun with it. But anyhoo...Slappy sort of grinded to a halt. We stopped rehearsing, played shows sporadically, and I wasn't really happy with being stuck back on drums (after what was like, the twentieth lineup change. We went through about 10 drummers, 4 guitarists, Mel and myself.). We were sorta at each other's throats, and the fun was definitely gone. But that's for another long winded and ego-damaging story. So um...yeah. I wanted to record some songs in the vein of the Fastbacks, whom I had been listening to very heavily at that time. As luck would have it, I worked at a record store...
