Banding Together ~
a Tsunami Benefit for Save The Children

BlowUpRadio.com & Jersey Beat presents
Folk You! ~ Wed. March 23rd ~ The Goldhawk, Hoboken

Message From Lazlo

Hey Everyone,

It looks like Folk You! has found a new home at the Jersey Shore!

Thank you everyone for making our first show at SICA an overwhelming success! Special thanks to Michael Ferentino, jpat, Jon Caspi and Tony Tedesco for their incendiary performances.

We'll be back at SICA the first Saturday of every month, beginning April 2nd.

But don't forget, we're bringing Folk You! back to Hoboken, on March 23rd.

But before then, we're proud to be involved with 2 benefit shows in Asbury Park.

This Friday at The Wonder Bar is a benefit for SSGT. Maurice Craft, an Asbury Park High graduate who was injured while fighting with the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq. Regardless of your beliefs on the war in Iraq, I know that we all support our troops. This show begins at 6pm and includes sets by Days Awake, The Commons, Ken Shane, Bobby Strange, Republic, Tony Tedesco...plus more. More information can be found here.

And then on Saturday March 19th is Banding Together ~ A Tsunami Benefit for Save The Children that will feature 15 acts over the course of 12 hours. You can see the flyer ad for that above and I'll have lots more info for you on that next week.

And last but certainly not least...

Last Thursday the local music scene lost a great talent. Jack Stock was a friend to all who met him, always a smile on his face, always firendly and supportive, and an increidble singer/songwriter. A Staten Island resident, Jack could be seen regularly throughout New Jersey at open mic nights. He was a regular at the Broadway Central Cafe, and more recently had a Friday night residency at the Berkeley Carteret Hotel. Jack Stock died Thursday during heart surgery. long-time friend, Mike Grau, wrote up a great remembrance of Jack. You can read it, here. Jpat also paid his respects to Jack Stock by opening his set at Folk You! Saturday with a cover of Jack's song, "motel in New Jersey". You can hear that live recording on our webcast.

You can also go here to listen to the legend himself and purchase your own copy of his album "light of the moon".

We miss you Jack...but your music will never be forgotten.

Peace,
Lazlo
