2. MESSAGE FROM LAZLO

This is an open letter to all the bands in the local music scene and those that are fans of BlowUpRadio.com,

For over 2 years now I have been doing BlowUpRadio.com, doing my part to support the local scene by (w/ the exception of Lazlo's Den) playing nothing but music by bands from the great state of New Jersey.

Over the course of the last 6 months or so I have been given the opportunity to put on more BlowUpRadio.com sponsored shows. At first I wasn't so sure I wanted to take on too many of these shows because of the extra time and effort that would be needed on my part to put these together, but every local musician I spoke to said how BlowUpRadio.com is helping the scene and how these shows help even more. Therefore I agreed to take on the extra work of putting these shows together.

Now many local bands want to be part of a BlowUpRadio.com show and I want to help each and every band, but I need all of your help too.

Everyone seems to think because the BlowUpRadio.com name is attached to a show that people will automatically show up, but that just isn't the case. I send out this weekly newsletter to over 800 people, and I've never seen 100 people at any of my shows. Now I don't expect everyone to show up to every show I do, but in order for me to be able to continue to do shows at different venues I need to show the clubs I can get people to come out. Some of you do come out when you can, and I am thankful for that, there are others though who ask to do my shows and I don't see ever again until they ask to do another show. This is not the way to support the scene. We all need to work together and support one another. When I am not doing one of my own shows I do my best to get out and see other bands at other venues.

If people don't come out and support the shows, then BlowUpRadio.com is not going to be able to put on more shows, because the clubs need people in them for them to make money and if original music isn't bringing people in, they'll start bringing in cover bands which sadly will bring in far more people. And if we don't support one another and come out to these shows when possible, I am going to have to assume that the shows really don't make a difference and people don't care about live original music.

I don't make a profit off of this station, and I don't make a profit off of the shows. I do this because it is fun and I enjoy the music coming out of the local scene. But let me tell you, there is nothing fun about having to deal with club owners that are dissapointed in the turn out at a show. It's not the bands that directly have to deal with it at a BlowUpRadio.com show, it's me.

The future of BlowUpRadio.com sponsored shows really lies in your hands. If you support the shows by coming out to them when you can, they will continue and may even be able to grow into something special.

Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Lazlo
