Lazlo's Corner

As you hopefully know, I write a bi-weekly New & Notable column for New Jersey Stage (https://www.newjerseystage.com/content/author/lazlo), but that column is only about New Jersey music. Outside of Lazlo's Den Presents New Music (Tuesday's 7pm ET on BlowUpRadio.com), we don't do much with artists from outside of the Garden State.

But sometimes there is just a really great album from a band that used to reside in NJ, that now calls some other state home.

Such is the case with Commons 2, who used to reside in Jersey City, but now call Brooklyn their home.

It was 2020 when this band released their first album, and I immediately enjoyed it.

But here we are 4 years later, and they have just released one of my favorite albums of the year (so far) in "Unconscious People" (https://listentothecommons.bandcamp.com/album/unconscious-people).

Rather then me blathering on about it, I'll let them tell you about their album:

"Unconscious People doesn’t stand a fucking chance in your algorithms. These songs are not designed to sound like some shit you’ve already listened to. They are just designed to sound like what’s in my head. I make the music that I wish existed and if I was doing anything other than that, there would be absolutely no point. This music celebrates rawness and polish equally. It embraces meticulous attention to detail, improvisation, and happy accidents all at once. I love how it sounds because it’s exactly what I want it to be. For anyone who’s weird enough to care about any of this, I sincerely believe you’ll be richly rewarded if you take a listen."

I believe that too!

Below is the first information about this year's Banding Together benefit webathon for the Spondylitis Association Of America, airing on BlowUpRadio.com October 18th-20th.

I am so excited for the amazing lineup we have for you this year!

And I would like to point out, since we are over a month away, there is still room if people are interested in performing and/or donating a song to the compilation.

BlowUpRadio.com's 2024 Banding Together Webathon For The Spondylitis Association Of America Celebrates 17 Years With Annual Benefit This October

South Amboy, NJ - New Jersey internet radio station BlowUpRadio.com - Where NJ Rock Lives, announces its 17th annual Banding Together Webathon to benefit the Spondylitis Association Of America. Taking place Friday October 18th through Sunday October 20th on their internet radio station, over 30 acts from New Jersey and all over the globe will perform half hour performances, as they raise money to fund research and provide the programs and services to help the community suffering from this debilitating disease.

During Banding Together BlowUpRadio.com will have a link to a special donation page on the Spondylitis Association Of America's website. Every donation of $10 or more will get an exclusive download of this year's compilation featuring over 30 previously unreleased songs.

Spondylitis is a genetic rheumatoid arthritic condition that causes inflammation and fusion in the vertebrae of the spine. To date, BlowUpRadio.com has raised over ten thousand dollars for the cause, and raised awareness of the genetic disease, which the Centers For Disease Control says affects more than 2.7 million adults in the US.

"When I started doing the Banding Together benefits in 2007 after my wife was diagnosed with Spondylitis, I was amazed at the outpouring of support from musicians that wanted to help," says Lazlo, the founder of BlowUpRadio.com and the organizer of Banding Together. "Here we are now in our 17th year, and I am still overwhelmed by the positive support of musicians, and people who donate each year to help find a cure for this debilitating disease."
